Since his long-awaited release from jail last October, Young Thug has appeared on projects including Lil Baby’s WHAM on the track “Dum, Dumb, and Dumber” along with Future and Playboi Carti’s MUSIC on the song “WE NEED ALL DA VIBES” with Ty Dolla $ign. With each guest verse, though, one central question continues to be asked across social media—when are we getting a new solo Thugga project? After clearing his Instagram on March 13, the rapper recently posted up at a basketball game to drop more potential hints.
Thugga’s ballin’ on and off the court
Sitting alongside girlfriend Mariah the Scientist (because prison love triangles are no match for real love) at the Miami Heat vs. GSW game on March 25, the duo got handed brand-new jerseys. While Mariah’s said “The Scientist,” Thugga had “Uy Scuti” on the back.
Uy Scuti is the name for the biggest star in the universe (it’s so giant it can fit the volume of almost 5 billion Suns inside itself). The next day, the rapper tweeted that “KING SPIDER THE BIGGEST STAR” and followed a new IG account with the same name (just with some extra i’s).
There are no posts on the account yet, but it already has over 18,000 followers and counting.
Boosting the potential album rollout excitement even more, Future (who has songs like 2017’s “Relationship” and 2019’s “Sup Mate” with the rapper) posted “UY SCUTI” himself on X on March 26. Then, adding fuel to the album rumor fire, Lil Baby changed his IG profile picture to a photo of Thug’s “UY SCUTI” jersey.
In January, Lil Baby teased a joint project with Future but said they were holding off on completion until Thug could contribute. It’s unclear if all the “UY SCUTI” clues are a rollout for a collab album from the ATL trio or if Thug is making his long-awaited solo return after surviving the longest criminal trial in Georgia history.
On the heels of those clues, Summer Smash finally revealed their lineup for the festival taking place on June 20-22 in Chicago, and Thug is headlining alongside Future, Don Toliver, and Yeat. Thug’s announcement as headliner is huge because it’ll mark his first performance post-prison—the Uy Scuti star seems to be aligning for an album rollout. If there’s one thing Playboi Carti did right, it was dropping MUSIC right before his Rolling Loud Cali performance.
