For better or (most likely) for worse, Ye is back on social media, despite previously stating that he was stepping away. True to form, he’s once again sharing his unfiltered thoughts and emotions with the world. His target this time? His on-again, off-again frenemy, Drake.
Ye praises Drake
In a now-deleted post on March 5, Ye took to X to share his admiration for the Toronto rapper after stumbling across a random video of Drake on his timeline.
“I saw a video of Drake walking through his house and showing he had a library of rhyme books. Man, I wish I could have seen and remembered this when my jealousy overtook me…I love Drake. Ima say this, when I die, I need you to speak at [my] funeral,” he said.
This isn’t the first time Ye has shown love to Drake recently. During an appearance on Justin LaBoy’s Respectfully podcast (teased at his post-Grammy’s party on February 2), Ye gave Drake his flowers, praising his influence on the rap game.
Despite the loss in his rap beef with Kendrick Lamar, Ye stated, “Drake added something to the algorithm. He advanced it, Future advanced it and now Kendrick is advancing the frequency […] If you don’t really learn, as a professional rapper [in] a sport, what Kendrick is doing, you might be wiped out.”
Drake spotted gambling in a club alone
While it’s unclear if Drake has seen Ye’s latest online shoutout, he seems more preoccupied with his gambling activities than the opinions of his peers. On March 5, Drake was spotted renting out an entire nightclub just to unwind and gamble.
Draped in a fur coat, he’s seen sitting alone, locked into an online casino game on the club’s massive screens, all while Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso” blared through the speakers. Weird flex? No doubt. But fans suspect it wasn’t just for fun—many believe it was a calculated marketing move for the gambling company Stake, much like the viral drone footage that captured him gambling at his Australian penthouse last month.
Fingers crossed that the relationship between the two rap heavyweights stays cordial. In the meantime, there’s plenty of memes and reactions to enjoy right now — once again, thanks to Drizzy.
