After Drake finally dropped his long-awaited collaborative album with PARTYNEXTDOOR, social media erupted with reactions.
One of the key moments sparking debate was his response to the lingering rap beef with Kendrick Lamar—a response many felt came too late, especially after K. Dot decisively outshone him during the Super Bowl.
“Funny how it’s only bitch n***as that are waiting on the boy’s obituary, ‘Cause if I die, it’s these n***as that become the sole beneficiary,” Drake rapped on “Gimme A Hug,” suggesting that the 20v1 battle he faced last year was spawned by jealous adversaries hoping to take his place.
“They be dropping shit, but we be dropping harder shit, Fuck a rap beef, I’m tryna get the party lit, Tryna get the party lit for the bitches,” Drizzy continues implying that he doesn’t care what other people are dropping which could be a sneak diss at Kendrick and GNX.
Not one to shy away from controversy, Drake also took aim at one of his most persistent critics, Joe Budden, in the same album.
In what seemed like both a diss and a nod, he gave a shoutout to Canadian media personality Melyssa Ford, rapping: “A legend from the 6, hate to see you with a d*ck-sucker.” Budden’s response was surprisingly composed, focusing more on Ford receiving her flowers than on the jab from Champagne Papi.
Capitalizing on the buzz surrounding $ome $exy $ongs 4 U, Drake made a major announcement to redirect the narrative and deflect some of the heat that’s been simmering over the past year.
It’s time to dust off the London accent
On February 16, Wireless Festival revealed its 20th-anniversary lineup, with Drake headlining a massive three-night run from July 11–13.
Each night promises a unique experience: PARTYNEXTDOOR and Summer Walker will join him for night one, “The Mandem” (exact members TBD) will take over night two, and Burna Boy and Vybz Kartel will close out night three. The international cosplaying is sure to be on 1000 that weekend.
Drake reportedly turned down a similar multi-night offer from Rolling Loud, according to co-founder Tariq Cherif, leaving fans speculating about why Wireless Festival secured the win. Nevertheless, it looks like Drake will have a packed 2025 once he returns from Australia — regardless of how social media feels about it.
