Fans are Arguing Over Ye’s AI Usage (Again)

Ye used the tech in his "530" video and 'Vultures The Movie' trailer.

After numerous delays, Ye and Ty Dolla $ign finally dropped the highly anticipated sequel to VULTURES on August 3, 2024. However, the project faced major issues right from the start. Some tracks, like FRIED, suffered from poor audio quality and lacked polish. Even worse, fans believed Ye was using AI on his vocals (specifically on the song “SKY CITY”).

In response to the backlash, Ye returned to the studio, tweaking song titles and reworking beats. Just days later, on August 7, the duo dropped a deluxe version of the album—as the rap world gave them the side eye. Nevertheless, it doesn’t seem like Ye will stop using AI anytime soon.

Ye and AI are locked in

On January 9, Ye dropped the video for the VULTURES 2 track “530.” Lyrically, the song focuses on his ex, Kim Kardashian, her parenting methods for their kids, and his fears of the future. The AI-driven music video features people in “masks with exaggerated features” getting lip fillers, getting their hair done, and living their everyday lives.

However, fans were unimpressed by the new visuals—and his next announcement only fueled their frustration.

On January 10, the rapper teased the upcoming VULTURES THE MOVIE with another seemingly AI-generated clip reminiscent of the old black-and-white movies you watched at your grandparents’ house (but ten times more weird).

Immediately after it dropped, fans online began arguing whether Ye’s use of AI is cutting-edge or chipping away at his GOAT status.

Despite what fans may think, Ye is still on the move. He teased that BULLY (potentially with help from longtime collaborator Mike Dean) and VULTURES 3 may drop this year. He also debuted a new YZY slipper on Instagram — and posted all the things he is GOATED in.

One thing is for sure — Ye will do what he wants, no matter what others may say or think about it.
