Metro Boomin Reveals Release Date & Features For ‘A Futuristic Summa’

The project is stacked with ATL fan-favorites.

Ever since he started teasing it, Metro Boomin’s upcoming mixtape A Futuristic Summa has been making waves. Hosted by legendary DJ and producer DJ Spinz — best known for hits like Future’s “F**k Up Some Commas” — the project was confirmed via Metro’s MySpace-inspired website to include 23 tracks and 21 features.

The project was originally supposed to drop on July 22, but was delayed alongside the confirmation that Future would be featured. He’s since confirmed that A Futuristic Summa is dropping Friday, August 1st.

What artists are featured on ‘A Futuristic Summa’?

For the album rollout, Metro’s been unveiling features like he’s counting down to a Verzuz battle: Quavo, JMoney, Roscoe Dash —yes, 2010 just texted back. He posted a snippet on TikTok of a song with Quavo and JMoney that’s pure heat. If you ever wondered what Quavo would sound like sliding on a late 2000s beat, this is your answer. With every new name, it’s getting harder to tell if this is a mixtape or an Atlanta rap Avengers reunion.

Some inclusions aren’t shocking. Metro’s worked with Lil Baby before (see: 2024’s “All My Life”) and has a whole track record with 2 Chainz, including 2017’s “Big Bidness” and “Both Eyes Closed.” This isn’t just a victory lap, though.

It’s a love letter to Atlanta rap, more specifically the futuristic era, and Metro’s the conductor. OG legends like T.I., Travis Porter, Rich Kidz, and Waka Flocka Flame are all back outside. And he’s not stopping there. New blood like YK Niece (one of the voices behind the viral menace “WHIM WHAMMIE”) and Bunna B (yes, the one from “Bunna Summa” on TikTok) are pulling up, too.

On Wednesday, Metro revealed three more members of his “all-new cast.” Starting with the ATL trap legend, Gucci Mane. “I heard you taking ’em folk back to the old days, man, doing a futuristic album, you know you can’t do that shit without Guwop,” said Gucci in the announcement clip.

Another pivotal figure from Atlanta’s futuristic rap era is Yung L.A., and naturally, he was the next guest to be revealed. “U know damn well I wasn’t finna drop without going LELAND ON LELAND,” Metro posted on X, referring to their shared birth name of “Leland.” If you’re unfamiliar with Yung L.A., listen to the teaser Metro shared below.

Lastly, Metro confirmed that King Spider would be making an appearance. That’s usually a given on any Metro project, but when he promised this one would feature an “all-new cast,” some fans worried that meant no Thug, Future, or Lil Baby. Thankfully, that’s not the case.

Of the 18 out of 21 features revealed so far, the lineup bridges multiple generations of ATL rap—bringing together the pioneers, the chart-toppers, and the underground staples that shaped the city’s sound.
