Mustard Says Drake Should Avoid “Tactics and Gimmicks”

The 6 God needs a new game plan ASAP.

Drizzy might be on an Australian sabbatical right now, turquoise boots in tow, but he can’t escape the clowning online thanks to Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl performance.

In his usual sneak diss fashion, he threw shade at Serena Williams after the historic performance but hasn’t said anything to K. Dot yet. Maybe he finally learned not to poke the boogeyman? Either way, a surprising source offered their POV on what his next moves should be.

Mustard to the rescue

In an interview on Big Boy’s Neighborhood the day after the Super Bowl, Mustard was asked what Drizzy should do next. Rather than focusing on the Toronto rapper directly, the producer shared advice that all artists can follow.

“I actually don’t think about what he could do. I have no idea,” Mustard said. “I just try to stay aligned with pure shit, just being pure and being on the right side of things — not doing no tactics and gimmicks.”

Clarifying his perspective, he added, “I’m not speaking at Drake or for him, but a lot of shit that’s going on — the tactics, the things that you do just to get attention. You don’t need to do that. Just make music, man. Make good music, and you’ll be fine.”

While Mustard avoided naming any specific attention-seeking stunts, another figure in hip-hop didn’t hold back. Joe Budden, in a separate issue with Drake, criticized the rapper’s recent choices, including his turquoise boots, a fashion statement that, intentional or not, has certainly attracted plenty of attention.

Drake just dropped his new album with PARTYNEXTDOOR in time for Valentine’s Day, which may distract the haters from recent events. Nevertheless, it’s got to be hard to get a good night’s sleep with “SAY DRAKE” echoing in your head.
