Playboi Carti Calls Out Ye (Again)

And NBA YoungBoy is now in the mix.

The relationship between Ye and Carti went up in flames quicker than you can say “Where is BABY BOI?” Just last November, the Opium rapper announced that Ye would be involved in his latest project, MUSIC

“Shout out to my n**** Kanye, you know what I’m saying… He over here making beats and shit. That album gonna be crazy, I can’t wait to show y’all n*****,” he said on the mic while celebrating at a club during ComplexCon weekend.

Fast-forward to March. Carti drops MUSIC (30 tracks deep) and guess who’s missing? Yep, Ye. The man who was supposedly cooking up beats just a few months prior didn’t even make the cut. According to Ye, it wasn’t just Carti going ghost. It was personal. So when Carti tried to hit up Kim Kardashian about collabing with North West, Ye took it as a declaration of war.

More shots were traded, and things seemed to calm down. Earlier this month, hopes of a reconciliation were even sparked by Digital Nas, the producer who has been hanging around Ye recently. While on Sneako’s May 12th stream, Nas said that “Ye is in touch with [Carti affiliate] Fritz [Owens]. I think we’re going to see a reunion soon. Hopefully. I don’t like to see my brothers separated.”

Even the potential white flag didn’t last long because Carti has called out Ye again.

Playboi Carti Says “Dis My Song Lil Bra”

On May 21, Ye posted a new song on Instagram with NBA YoungBoy, titled “Alive.” It’s not hard to hear the sample of Playboi Carti’s “CRANK” in the song but some misguided fans thought Carti must have given his blessing and this was more proof of a peace treaty between the two. Ye, using unauthorized samples? That’s a story we’ve never heard before.

Hours later, Carti took to his Opium Instagram account, and addressed Ye directly. “DIS MY SONG LIL BRA @YE,” he said posting what appears to be the original version of the song—also with NBA YoungBoy. Words like “ALIVE” and “WELCOME HOME TOP” are displayed in the video, suggesting Ye made the very bold move of stealing his song and didn’t even bother to change the title.

There’s homages to NBA YoungBoy throughout, celebrating his recent release from jail, and visuals of Carti’s rumored girlfriend, Giovanna Ramos. Fingers crossed this motives Carti to officially release the song on streaming platforms, officially claiming it’s ownership, and not wait five years for another drop.
