Travis Scott

Travis Scott takes the top spot on this month’s Power Rankings. After re-releasing his mixtape Days Before Rodeo on August 23, he was set to debut as No. 1 on the Billboard 200 but got robbed by Sabrina Carpenter, settling for the No. 2 spot. The project still sold an impressive 361K units in its first week, bulldozing the sales numbers of his peers with a mixtape that’s ten years old.

He released multiple deluxe versions of the album and celebrated with a one-night-only show in ATL. With his recent Miami charges being dropped as well, “it’s lit” for the Houston rapper this month.

Drake

Unlike your laptop’s storage which hates to see Drake and his 100 GIGS coming, Power Rankings welcomes the rapper at the No. 2 spot. Unloading a hard drive or two worth of content, he dropped footage and new music throughout the month. The songs include the highly-anticipated “Supersoak” (without Lil Yachty) and “It’s Up” with 21 Savage and Young Thug. The footage includes studio sessions and opportunities to be typical petty Drake (like posting rehearsal footage with Rihanna).

Even though some fans complained of information overload, the Champagne Papi showed that he is ready for a “game two” and isn’t going anywhere.

Ye

At the beginning of the month, Ye finally gave fans what they had been waiting for—VULTURES 2 with Ty Dolla $ign. The album debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 with 107K units in first-week sales. 60.5K were pure sales, a testament to his fan base’s unwavering support. The release was filled with AI accusations, tracks sounding unfinished, and Ye updating songs days after the drop, but it made waves nonetheless. He performed a massive set list for fans in South Korea and recently confirmed a listening party in China as well.

Destroy Lonely

The rapper takes the fourth spot on our Power Rankings this month after dropping LOVE LASTS FOREVER on August 30. The follow-up to last year’s If Looks Could Kill, the album has features from Ken Carson and Lil Uzi Vert. Highly anticipated, Destroy continues to build his own frenzied fanbase similar to Opium head honcho Playboi Carti. With upcoming festival spots at major names like the 10th anniversary of Rolling Loud Miami, fans are looking forward to moshing to Destroy Lonely’s new heat live.

NoCap

The Alabama native finally dropped a new project after two years titled Before I Disappear Again on August 16th. The project was in the top three of most presaves on Apple Music and ended up at No. 1 in its Hip-Hop/Rap Top Albums rankings.

Fans felt it was worth the wait, praising the album’s production and standout songs like “Invoice” featuring Rylo Rodriguez and “Die For Me” featuring SoFaygo. He also teased potentially going back on the road to perform his beloved songs live before he disappears again to focus on himself and his growing family.

Big Sean

Big Sean has gone through a tumultuous album rollout, to say the least. Nevertheless, he finally dropped Better Me Than You with positive reviews from fans, calling out “Certified” as an early favorite of the album. He secured features from Gunna, Kodak Black, Cash Cobain, and more.

He performed the first “live experience” of the album in LA and dropped what he calls some of his favorite merch and vinyl he has ever made. Coming off of the release weekend, he teased a potential joint project with The Alchemist. Big Sean might have taken an L, but this month he is bouncing back.

A$AP Rocky

A$AP Rocky disappointed fans this month by pushing the release date of his new album, DON’T BE DUMB, once again. It was initially set to drop on August 30, but the rapper said sample clearances and leaks have pushed the unconfirmed date back to this fall. However, he did drop the singles “Highjack” and the previously leaked “Tailor Swif” with accompanying music videos, continuing to prove he has some of the best visuals in the game.

He also made headlines this month with Billboard in a new cover story, revealing album details like Tim Burton getting to hear the album. It’s the most music-related news we’ve gotten from A$AP in years.

Latto

Latto started the month as a feature on “Housekeeping Knows” from Drake’s initial 100 GIGS drop. She had some heat of her own to drop though—her new album Sugar Honey Iced Tea. Released on August 9, the album received praise from both critics and her fans. Days later, she announced that she would be touring the album across the country with Karrahbooo and Mariah the Scientist. With her new album, Latto is cementing herself as a master MC and Atlanta as the city of rap greats.

Cash Cobain

The rapper is currently touring with Ice Spice for her Y2K! World Tour. Nevertheless, he found time to drop his new album, Play Cash Cobain, on August 23. The album features the giant remix to his song “problem” as well as assistance from Don Toliver, Quavo, and more. He also has new features on songs like “You Ready” with King Combs. He’s continuing to make a name for himself and the sexy drill music that he’s popularized from a subset of New York’s drill scene.

Polo G

Polo G takes the last spot on this month’s Power Rankings. He dropped his newest album, Hood Poet, on August 9. Other big names like Lil Durk, 42 Dugg, GloRilla, Offset, and Future combined forces with the rapper on multiple tracks. The album was delayed for over a year due to legal issues but fans are happy to finally receive a new Polo G project after three years. Days after the album release, he announced The Hood Poet Tour with opening acts including VonOff1700 and TwoTiime joining him outside.
