House envy has been fueling entertainment for decades. In the 2000s, MTV Cribs had a chokehold on real estate reality TV, and although the show featured all kinds of celebrities, the episodes of rappers were always the best. The lack of humility in a rapper’s persona extended to their not so humble abodes and the way they showed them off.
Nowadays, you don’t need MTV Cribs to see how the “Bad and Boujee” live—it’ll show up on your timeline. Among a rapper’s portfolio of luxury, their home is often their crown jewel. Usually so big and bold that it’s deserving of its own name, like NBA YoungBoy’s Grave Digger Mountain in Utah or Drake’s Embassy in Toronto.
Extravagant mansions and their nicknames tend to reflect the personality of their owners. Is it a coincidence that Rick Ross, aka the biggest boss, bought the biggest home in Georgia? Probably not, but it’s hard to peel your eyes from, nonetheless.
There’s something about coveting a 12-bedroom mansion that hits different than imagining your life with an iced-out Patek. So in the spirit of house envy, we rounded up some of the most lavish homes owned by rappers and the details known about each.
DJ Khaled’s Sneaker Haven
“Welcome to his hood.” One of the most positive people on the Internet, DJ Khaled, bought his Miami mansion for almost $4 million in 2018. The property is on the water, featuring a show closet with floor-to-ceiling shelves holding over 500 pairs of shoes—perhaps his most iconic room.
The infamous closet is every sneakerhead’s dream. Before he sold the home, Khaled once rented it out on Airbnb for $11 a night—a nod to his shoe size.
For those who love the taste of luxury, there is also a bamboo grove, a boat dock, and 14-karat gold chandeliers with Swarovski crystal. The five-bedroom and seven-bathroom home was put on the market in 2020 and sold for nearly 5 million dollars. However, it was placed on the market again this year for about 16 million dollars. You can view photos of the listing here.
Rick Ross’ Promise Land
The Biggest Boss needed a crib to match. The 45,000 square-foot mansion formerly belonged to boxing champion Evander Holyfield before being bought by Ross in 2014 for over $5.8 million. With a nickname like “The Promised Land,” sitting on 235 acres, you know it had to deliver.
The 109-room estate in Fayetteville is the biggest home in Georgia and one of the largest homes in the United States. It has 21 bedrooms, 12 bathrooms, a 350 thousand-gallon pool, and a dining hall for up to 100 of your closest friends.
Other amenities include a game room, gym, movie theatre, water slides, a waterfall, a swim-up bar, and a massive pool. His home has also been used as a filming location for movies like Coming to America 2, and it’s where he hosts his annual car show. It is a home fit for multiple kings.
Drake’s Embassy
Drake purchased and curated the perfect bird’s nest. He can live out his hoop dreams with his OVO state-of-the-art basketball court that’s official NBA size. His master’s bedroom is over three thousand square feet, complete with a bed that literally weighs a ton. The bedroom alone puts all the 700 square feet condos in downtown Toronto to shame.
Taking his dedication to ball a step further, Drake’s home features a “jersey hall” that pays tribute to all the NBA players meaningful to him. You can spot LeBron James’ Cavaliers and Lakers jerseys, along with Kobe Bryant and Dennis Rodman jerseys.
With amenities like a black granite indoor pool, a recording studio, and a nightclub, it’s not surprising Drake spends so much time in his hometown. He purchased the plot of land in 2015 for nearly $7 million. However, when you add up all of the sculptures, one-of-a-kind collectibles, and formal spaces, the mansion is the epitome of extravagance. Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s Billionaire Bungalow
HOVA and Queen B bought the most expensive property in Californian history for 200 million dollars in 2023. With an eight-acre bluff that overlooks the Pacific Ocean, the property is part of a neighborhood known as “Billionaires’ Row.”
It took nearly 15 years to finish building the property, complete with an infinity pool and modernist glass-and-concrete architecture. There aren’t a lot of details known about the home, but one thing is for sure—it’s gorgeous.
Travis Scott’s Modern Jam
Scott bought the mansion for almost 24 million dollars back in 2020. The 16,700-square-foot home sits atop a hill and features panoramic views of Los Angeles. Designed to be futuristic and modern—inspired by the lines of a luxury yacht.
With seven bedrooms, eleven bathrooms, a wine room that holds up to 650 bottles, and a twenty-car garage, it seemed like the house would give anyone “goosebumps.”
However, the property is now facing major issues. Due to major rainfall in the area, the property next to Scott’s is splitting open. While nothing has happened yet, authorities are still keeping an eye on the house.
Lil Wayne’s Miami Pad
Tunechi bought his Miami palace for nearly 17 million dollars back in 2018. It came with 110 feet of waterfront views, making it only right that the house had its own beach cabana and private dock.
The 24/7 guarded property has seven bedrooms, nine bathrooms, and live greenery on some of the walls.
Add a private movie theatre, wraparound terrace, elevator, and three-car garage, and it’s hard to imagine why he sold the property. Although he did make a profit, selling it in 2023 for 22.5 million dollars.
NBA Young Boy’s Grave Digger Mountain
The rapper bought a winter wonderland back in 2022. The 5.4 million dollar mansion was where NBA YoungBoy spent his house arrest sentence as he waited for trial for felony gun charges (which is still ongoing). You may recognize it from the various music videos and album covers he’s shot there while under house arrest.
The home is designed to blur the lines between indoor and outdoor living with floor-to-ceiling windows. Despite its size, it has only four spacious bedrooms and four bathrooms, accessed by elevator or stairs.
There is a heated driveway that leads to FIVE five-car garages (enough room for 25 cards), a private balcony in the master suite, and floor-to-ceiling windows. It looks like the perfect Utah escape for him and his family, but he sold the house this year with a slight increase of 5.5 million dollars.
Future’s Miami Type Shit
“Life is Good” for Future at his Miami mansion purchased in 2022 for $16.3 million dollars. The seven-bedroom and eight-and-a-half-bathroom property is on Allison Island, where every property in the area is right on the water (Lil Wayne’s house was nearby).
With 8,897 square feet of space there’s a main house and detached guest house for visitors. The giant master bedroom has a wet bar to get lit from the bed, a wine fridge, and two walk-in closets.
The master bathroom is perfect for two, with a double shower, dual sinks, and a freestanding bathtub. With plenty of glass windows to enjoy the view, he can see all Miami has to offer from any angle.
