Since Drake lost the battle (and the overall war) with Kendrick Lamar last year, he has made major moves. He has a collaboration album with PARTYNEXTDOOR that hopefully drops soon despite the conspiracies. He’s going on the Anita Max Wynn Tour in Australia starting February 9th (the same day as K. Dot’s Super Bowl performance). He recently revealed his idea for a TV show inspired by his music video “God’s Plan.” However, it looks like the one place you can’t catch him is Rolling Loud.
Drizzy is “the one that got away”
The festival’s co-founder, Tariq Cherif, stopped by the popular radio show Big Boy’s Neighborhood to discuss the 2025 lineup for Rolling Loud California. Taking place March 15 and 16, Peso Pluma, A$AP Rocky, and Playboi Carti will headline (rather than dropping their albums), along with support from other rappers, including Ken Carson, Destroy Lonely, and recently added LiAngelo Ball.
When Big Boy asked Cherif if there was ever an artist they had not been able to secure, Cherif immediately responded with Drake.
“I feel like Drake is ducking us. I got no beef with Drake. I like Drake. I think that he is a great artist. We have been trying to book him forever. We even offered Drake “three nights of Drake” once. They were like, ‘You need to make it special.’ We said, ‘Alright — three nights of Drake. You will be the headliner for three nights. I heard a certain festival in Europe is about to steal our idea and do that, but whatever,” Cherif said.
However, it seemed even being the shining star of the whole festival wasn’t enough to get Drake to leave the crib. While some people think that a three-night headlining gig would have been fire, others argue that the artist is too big for the festival and has every right to refuse as he has for other gigs.
Nevertheless, Rolling Loud was ready to do anything to secure “The Boy,” and disappointed fans now know they can’t blame the festival for his absence.
