Ken Carson has been on a ridiculous run as one of Opium’s lead acts, and his newest album xperiment continues his upward ascent. Even more grandiose and varied than its predecessors, appropriately named More Chaos and A Great Chaos, this is X5 at his most refined so far. But of the 22 songs, which ones hit the hardest?
We ranked the 10 best songs on xperiment, and gave our reasons why, below.
10. “interlude”
At only 1 minute and 28 seconds long, “interlude” is xperiment’s most melodic offering—and also the most distinctly romantic. He only flexed his sticks and his Patek three or four times in this one, so you know he was really in the mood to swoon his lady instead.
9. “gynecologist”
Wild ass song name aside, this is one of the catchiest songs on the album. Production is handled by F1LTHY, who is all over various Opium projects (I AM MUSIC, More Chaos, etc.). Safe to say, they have the formula to make bangers.
8. “ghost” (with Lil Uzi Vert)
Uzi has been hinting at new music since the end of 2025, so hearing a new verse from them is a great sign. “ghost,” despite the name, is definitely the brightest song on the album. Uzi and Ken Carson’s worlds collide perfectly as a pioneer and the new wave link up once again.
7. “wrist”
“wrist” is another example of how many flows Ken Carson can come with, all while flexing on the competition. The very first line, “I put Chrome on my b*tch… I put Chrome on my fit,” is delivered differently than most of the album, and still lets everyone know the drip is always immaculate.
Lil 88 handled the production, and after handling five tracks on A Great Chaos, it’s no surprise the duo got another smoker on their hands.
6. “edm”
A lot of times when it comes to Ken Carson, the appeal is in the chaos. And in pretty much every second of “edm,” he’s saying some outlandish shit. The beat hits hard, and with bars like “One b*tch, two b*tch, three b*tches, I’m Dr. Seuss,” it’s easy to imagine this being a fan-favorite.
5. “drug kit” (with Young Thug)
As another pioneer of this sound and style, every time Thugger hops on a track with Opium members, it’s a moment. In one of his best verses of late, it feels like—sonically—Thug is getting back to his old ways.
“Got the police trailing me right now, but we don’t vibe by the law” could be a reference to his recent statement that Slime Language 3 will come with more of the Barter 6 sound and content. If so, we’re hype for that.
4. “knocking”
As the title suggests, this beat knocks harder than the feds. On top of that, X Man comes with some of his best bars, aimed at whoever switched up on him before he made it big. If they’re still “knocking” on the door to get back in his life, they must not have heard it slam.
3. “deaf note” (with Playboi Carti)
Tagging in the Opium leader on this one, “deaf note” is on 10 right off the rip. Another banger made for the moshpit, the futuristic instrumentation and the hook—which consists of Carson just saying “yuh” repeatedly—is ridiculously infectious.
But rather than skimping on the verses and solely relying on energy, both he and Carti delivered some unique bars, filling out the 3:18 runtime.
2. “addiction”
Ken Carson’s ability to switch from jumping right into a song to letting the song build brings a ton of variety to his projects. “addiction” takes 1:18 seconds before the beat drops, and it’s well worth it. Every few seconds, a new layer comes in, taking the energy to new heights. And when it finally drops, you can’t help but get addicted to this track.
1. “possession”
There’s something fundamentally Opium about a hard-ass beat, the “woah” ad-libs, and any repeated word that makes the crowd jump. All of these elements are present in “possession,” and they’re working overtime.
At the 26-second mark, he breaks into a makeshift hook, saying “catch” repeatedly. And it’s catchy as hell, no pun intended. He even mentions his “on X-Games mode” tag firsthand.
