It has been over a year since Tyler, the Creator released the deluxe version of his last project and fans have been eagerly waiting for more. Call Me If You Get Lost left some pretty big shoes to fill, debuting at number one on the Billboard 200 charts in June 2021 and securing the Grammy for Best Rap Album. However, his fans have been wondering — what’s next? He finally has a response.
Welcome to “Chromakopia”
On October 16, Tyler released a video teasing new music called “ST. CHROMA.” Wearing a face mask while walking through the desert, the video ends with CHROMAKOPIA on top of a green backdrop. Fans began creating their theories about what this meant online and pulling together different references.
“…He is saying that he still wants to make it out. That coupled with the lines at the end of the snippet that are being sung where it says, “Can you feel the light inside? Can you feel the fire?” That is telling me that it’s going to be some type of inner freedom journey that he’s going on,” X user Bobby Foster said in an October 16 post.
Daniel Caesar also added to the hype by confirming that his vocals were featured in the song and ScHoolboy Q made sure to support his friend online.
However, fans truly went feral when Tyler finally confirmed that CHROMAKOPIA is the name of his seventh studio album and that he is fighting back against a music industry stereotype. Rather than dropping on a Friday, the album will be released on Monday, October 28th.
While there still aren’t a lot of details out about the project, all of the songs were “written, produced and arranged by Tyler Okonma” and the album is up for pre-sale and merch bundles for pre-order on the album’s official site.
Despite his previous sentiments, he might deliver his best project yet in less than two weeks.
With Camp Flog Gnaw just around the corner as well, fans are crossing their fingers that they get to be one of the first people to hear the album live along with Tyler’s other classics.
