Virginia guitarist/rapper Tommy Legendz is creating something “fresh and new,” and it shows. After the release of his EP, From Home, he watched his popularity take off. His Instagram following has grown to over 8,500 since he started making music in 2017. At that time, he was creating material with his friends in a shed with just one laptop. But it was well worth it. That’s where he found his unique sound.
Tommy was inspired to learn how to play guitar at 15-years-old after listening to the likes of Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Prince, The Weeknd, The Smiths, and Kanye West. He chose the legendary Fender Stratocaster as his instrument of choice because that is what his heroes—Hendrix and Eric Clapton—played. He’s more than happy with the result. “It’s just a beautiful instrument, especially when recording,” he said.
When Tommy is creating, he plays an instrument first and listens to the beat. “Everything feels natural after that, and my creativity takes over,” he said.
Tommy Legendz wants to continue making music and playing guitar with different people in the music industry. He wants to draw upon that diversity to keep defining his unique sound.
Tommy is excited to release his new single “Dreamz” on June 10.
