Business woman and singer, Rihanna donates $5 Million towards aiding the relief efforts for Novel Coronavirus.
The funds were donating through Rihanna’s foundation: Clara Lionel Foundation (CLF). This donation will support local food banks, the acceleration of testing and care in countries like Malawi and Haiti, and the mobilization of resources and support for Native Communities.

The CLF’s donation will benefit hands-on partners including: the International Rescue Committee, The World Health Organization’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund, Partners in Health, Feeding America, and Direct Relief.

This donation should help to do the following:
- Provide protective equipment for healthcare workers
- Provide protective equipment for diagnostic labs
- Help establish and maintain intensive care units
- Accelerate the development of vaccines and other therapies
- Fund healthcare worker training
- Fund virus prevention and containment in countries fighting COVID-19 upfront
Clara Lionel Foundation
Rihanna founded this organization in 2012 and named it after her grandparents, Clara and Lionel Braithwaite.
The CLF is a education and emergency relief nonprofit organization. They are currently running educational programs in Malawi, Barbados, and Senegal. They are also providing emergency response programs in the Caribbean, as well as other parts of the globe.
Donating towards the COVID-19 relief efforts, Rihanna makes a selfless statement showing that this virus is an issue worth combating.
Identically, other celebrities and public figures are also taking up arms against the virus. Rihanna joins singer Ciara, quarterback Russell Wilson, actress Blake Lively, and actor Ryan Reynolds. The two couple’s donating $1 million to Food Lifeline and $1 million to Feeding America and Foood Banks Canada, respectively.
