Some artists, rappers, and other musicians in the industry are at a huge loss right now, not being able to get their work done properly essentially just like the rest of us. It has been interesting to see how artists are finding new ways to express themselves and keep up with fans during these crazy and unpredictable times. Here are some of the most recent events keeping the hip hop train moving at full speed.
Celebrities in quarantine
With many musicians and entertainers losing out on most, if not all of their revenue stream and missing out on the most profitable source of revenue for them that is performing. This has led to many celebrities embracing creative ways to interact with fans and keep their presence fresh in everyone’s minds.
Artists are now reaching their fans through the multiple avenues of social media that are getting a lot of traffic while everyone is stuck at home. New Youtube videos and TikTok videos are constantly dropping along with millions of people watching celebrities live stream and interact with their fans who are also under the same quarantine restrictions.
Drake’s Dark Lane Demo Tapes
Fans have been waiting a long time for a full-length project to drop from Drake. While the Dark Lane Demo tape satisfied Drizzy lovers with some long-awaited tracks it is not the full-length tape fans have been eager to hear. He says that the recently released tape is just a little taste of what is to come in the full-length project that millions of listeners cannot wait to hear.
Before the release of Dark Lane Demo Tapes Drake had 9 consecutive number 1 debuts. With the tape debuting at the number 2 Billboard spot, this broke the top spot streak he had going on Billboard, however; nothing can stop his continued success. The project was put together with fans in mind as he did not want his fans to just focus on one single but rather have a more wholesome project to listen to. Drake also expressed the reason for this being a part of artists having to find new ways to connect with fans and give them what they want.
Tekashi 6ix9ine Relocated
6ix9ines location leaked online and he was instantly relocated due to his position being compromised. He has been attracting a lot of attention to himself lately good and bad but the negative attention is definitely something of concern. There aren’t many people who want a rat on the street, let alone one of the hottest rappers when he went to prison almost one and a half years ago. For him to be back on the top with one single and one video definitely has some people pissed off.
Meek Mill & Tekashi 6ix9ine Beef Escalates
Wild escapades have continued to transpire involving Tekashi 6ix9ine since his early release from prison and transition to his In-home prison sentence. Meek Mill took to social media to say a few things about Tekashi, none of them good and seems to be mad that a rainbow-haired rat is doing better numbers than him. The two even exchanged a few tweets and the snowball effect began. Tekashi is now social media asking Meek “are you ok?” due to his outbursts and obvious frustration.
G Herbo Goes Gold
PTSD is a disorder that so many people struggle with and very common in the hip hop industry. The new track that just recently went gold titled PTSD features chance the rapper and the late Juice Wrld who graces the chorus with his amazing chorus highlighting the disorder and how it shapes everyday life for those who struggle with it. Herbo really nailed it with this one bringing in three different vibes that come together in a pleasant track that has a mood to it.
If you did not know, PTSD stands for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and is something that many rappers in the industry struggle with. Being involved in certain life-changing actions and witnessing traumatizing events causes a lot of symptoms that rappers express self-medicating for. Whether it’s memories of violence from where they’re from, the best friend they watched die, or the current threats they’re facing, many rappers can relate on this level with each other as well as with their fans.
Rich The Kids New TV
There are these new televisions out on the market that are big and bendable. That’s right bendable TVs and Rich The Kid Just Bought one. The ticket on these TVs are $250,000 which will sound outrageous to anyone. The TV is very high tech and can bend from being completely flat if you have multiple people watching or to a curved screen to sit directly in front of and be captivated by. Coming in at over 100 inches, and the highest quality picture on the market, I’m guessing he wanted the nicest screen to get lost in as we all stay at home and binge-watch our favorite shows.
Nelly Vs. Ludacris
This battle is set to take place via Instagram live next week and will without a doubt be an exciting event to watch and be a part of. It will be interesting to see how the two feed off each other’s energy and perhaps reflect upon the current situation we find ourselves in. Either way it’s going to be a fun stream with some hot bars no doubt.
