As things start to go back to “normal” and open up, it is important to remember that the Coronavirus remains to be a serious global threat. With the weather warming up and summer almost here, it is vital, now more than ever to adhere to the quarantine guidelines, lockdowns, stay at home orders, and shelter in place orders in effect.
So far May has brought along some great new music and a lot of action all across the board. Adjusting to quarantine is the real challenge at hand for everyone. Rappers, musicians, artists, and pretty much all of those involved in the entertainment industry are having to quickly adapt to the industry that has completely changed during this pandemic. Let’s take a look into how stars are combatting COVID-19 and some of the latest hot topics popping off.
Stars Donating to Combat COVID-19
Ever since a need for help was expressed with combatting COVID-19, there have been many people donating towards the cause including over a dozen superstars. Oprah donated 12 million to COVID-19 relief a sum that will really do some good for so many people that have been affected by the pandemic situation.
Here are some other stars that have donated to combat COVID-19:
- Kylie Jenner
- Aaron Paul
- Arnold Schwarzenegger
- Gwyneth Paltrow
- Bryan Cranston
- Ryan Reynolds
- Jack Dorsey
- Drew Brees
Just a handful of the many that have given back to their communities in efforts to combat COVID-19, help those affected, and keep the numbers down.
Social Distancing Venues
Ideas have been floating around circling the concept of opening up certain venues for socially distanced events. It would be very hard to stay at least six feet away from anyone if you’re at a place like a bar; however, we are already seeing the power of regulation in our supermarkets so the same idea could Drew Brees apply to bars and entertainment venues as well. Restaurants fall under this category too with the idea of implementing glass panels around tables for safe dining during the pandemic as more and more businesses continue to open up.
John Legend
Live streams continue to be one of the best and only ways for artists to engage with their fans and the number of artists that have started to perform over livestream. John Legend is one of those smart musicians who recently put on a live show. During the show, John focused largely on COVID-19 relief and how others can help with the cause as well. Promoting himself along with much-needed relief programs is a great way to spread the word and stay active during these times.
Donating to the Homeless Students
Joey Badass donated $25,000 to help out homeless students in New York City that have been affected by the pandemic. It is a beautiful thing to see people giving back to those in need, especially during these times when help is most needed. Many students that have been affected are homeless due to schools shutting down and nowhere to go. With all of their classes now taking place online, this makes it even more difficult for students without homes to access the internet and computers and stay in school.
A New Product From Wu Tang
This famous group has added a new product to their line of merchandise, one that is sure to sell out. They recently announced the launch of their new product “Protect ya hands” which is a hand sanitizer. It’s a genius play just like so many others who made the jump on facemasks to make some money on products people need that stores are running out of. One of the hardest things to find at the store these days is hand sanitizer along with toilet paper of course. It will be interesting to see how their product does on the market and who exactly will be selling it.
50 Cent Murals
A Street artist who painted a couple of murals of 50 reported that he was jumped punched in the face for painting them. Both of the murals do not portray the rapper in a good light which may be the reason why the artist got attacked for his art. 50 Cent claims to have nothing to do with the attack. Without a doubt, he is not happy with the mural that portrays him in the likeness of Mike Tyson with the face tattoo and everything.
Wiz Khalifa
Wiz took to Instagram earlier this week to post some pics and vids of him chilling and smoking with some beautiful women on a sunny day in a pool. Definitely a subtle flex, Wiz is expressing that he isn’t failing to enjoy the situation at hand and make the most of it while we all wait for the world to open back up. The posts were just a peek into the types of fun and activities he’s up to during these times.
