The full list of 2022 Grammy Award nominations is here and hip hop is at the center of it all. Rap music again breaks out of genre-specific awards and extends its reach all the way to Album and Record of the Year.
But first here are the hip hop-related award nominees. Best Rap Song hopefuls include DMX, Jay-Z and Nas with “Bath Salts,” Saweetie and Doja Cat with “Best Friend,” Baby Keem and Kendrick Lamar with “Family Ties,” Kanye West and Jay-Z with “Jail” and J. Cole, 21 Savage and Morray with “My Life.”
Best Melodic Rap Performance nominees include J. Cole and Lil Baby with “Pride is the Devil,” Doja Cat with “Need to Know,” Lil Nas X and Jack Harlow with “Industry Baby,” Tyler the Creator featuring NBA Young Boy and Ty Dolla $ign with “WusYaName” and Kanye West, The Weeknd and Lil Baby with “Hurricane.”
Best Rap Album includes J. Cole with “The Offseason,” Drake with “Certified Lover Boy,” Nas with “King’s Disease 2,” Tyler the Creator with “Call Me if You Get Lost” and Kanye West with “Donda.”
Best Rap Performance nominees are as follows: Baby Keep and Kendrick Lamar with “Family Ties;” Cardi B with “Up;” J. Cole, 21 Savage and Morray with “My Life;” Drake, Future and Young Thug with “Way Too Sexy;” Megan the Stallion with “Thot Shit.”
Baby Keem and The Kid Laroi are both representing hip hop in the Best New Artist Category, Lil Nas X is up for Song of the Year and Record of the Year, but most impressive is Doja Cat who is up for all of the big three: Album, Song and Record of the Year.
The 2022 Grammys will take place in L.A. on January 31 and will air on CBS.
