“Yo! His palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy. There’s vomit on his sweater already: Mom’s spaghetti.” That line should be familiar to pretty much anyone who was listening to popular music in the early 2000s because it is the famous, first line of Eminem’s Oscar winning song “Lose yourself,” a song that has sold over 10 million copies and is certified diamond.
Never-the-less, it seems like a stretch to open a spaghetti restaurant associated with the song – and therefore vomit – unless, of course, you are superstar Eminem. According to The Detroit News,” Detroit’s “Rap God” has been running local, 30-second ads on WXYZ (Ch.7) in the Motor City which are made to look like commercials produced on a budget and feature Em vomiting up a carton of spaghetti into the Detroit River.
Anyone else on Earth would have trouble producing sales with this type of imagery, but because of Eminem’s well-crafted prankster persona and his rabid, loyal fanbase, he just might pull it off.
The restaurant, which will open at 2131 Woodward, Ave. in Detroit “will include “The Trailer,” described as “a store for Stans,”” according to The Detroit News.
Mom’s Spaghetti offers entrees with or without meatballs.
