The Delta Variant of Covid 19 is posing a large potential threat to the health of many Americans, the likes of which have not been seen since 2020. According to CNN, the variant spreads at an alarming 50% faster than the original and has spread to all 50 states. The surge in cases, due to the Delta Variant, is thought to be a direct result of the masses of Americans that remain unvaccinated.
Though there is a chance that the Covid vaccination does not fully protect against transmission of the variant, the CDC remains adamant that the vaccination is the very best protection for private and public health. Therefore, Mayor de Blasio of NYC, ground zero of the original U.S. Covid outbreak, is among many leaders using incentives as a way to encourage the public to get vaccinated.
According to NYC, the NY mayor announced a series of free hip-hop concerts in each of the five boroughs accessible to vaccinated citizens only, and the lineup is full of superstar old school talent including KRS One, Slick Rick, Kid Capri, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, Mobb Deep, Too Short, EPMD and many others. For hip-hop fans, this could be the extra motivation that many need to consider the vaccination. Less than half of the United States population is vaccinated.
