If you want to be official, call him Ye. No longer will Kanye West be Kanye or West or anything in-between. Though Ye has in the past been a nickname for the artist – of which he has had many – it is no longer so. Ye will sign legal documents and pay his taxes as such.
According to Deadline, the name change was made official today when Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michelle Williams dropped the gavel and ruled in favor of Ye’s request which he originally filed on August 24 for “personal reasons.”
Ye was the name of the artist formally known as Kanye West’s eighth studio album. The rapper said in an interview that year (2018) the “ye” is the most commonly used word in the Bible, meaning “you.”
Kim Kardashian West still carries the name.
