Kim Kardashian is surely feeling some relief today (March 2) after a judge finally granted her a status of single under California law, something that she has been seeking in her divorce to Kanye West since December (2021). A ruling to grant a divorce can often be quite simple and timely if both parties agree to it, but Kanye’s indecision on the matter has led to a rollercoaster ride of procedural issues.
So unsure of his intentions to divorce Kim or not, Kanye has rifled through a list of lawyers whose departures have coincided with Ye’s wavering, according to TMZ. In fact, Kanye dropped his 4th attorney, Chris Melcher, recently because “…Melcher was whipsawed…one day Kanye wanted the divorce, and the next day he wanted to fight,” says TMZ.
RapTV reported last week (February 26) that Kanye and his legal team were employing a myriad of tactics that appear to have had no other function than delaying the inevitable. Some of the legal maneuverings could have delayed today’s decision, but ultimately failed.
And to bring it all full circle, a source close to Kanye told TMZ today that Ye wanted the divorce to be granted today.
Kim Kardashian called into today’s hearing by video and Kanye was absent. Though today’s court ruling is a big win for Kim, it remains to be seen if the decision deters Kanye in any way from attacking her and Pete Davidson publicly.
