Every time Playboi Carti and Lil Uzi collaborate on a project, there seems to be an undeniable chemistry between the two that leaves fans wanting more. One only needs to listen to songs like “wokeuplikethis*,” “Shoota,” and “Big Bank” to get this sense of enthusiasm, and when you combine that longing with a few years of collaborative-album teasing from these two, it results in an audience hungry for a long-awaited, prospective drop.
According to HNHH, it has been four years since Playboi Carti revealed that he was working with Lil Uzi on a collaborative mixtape titled 16*29. However, at that time both artists were simultaneously working on solo projects which apparently took priority over the collaborative effort. But with both artists soon to release more solo material – the Pink Tape for Uzi and Narcissist for Carti – the duo is back teasing fans again with the prospect of a preemptive 2021 collaboration.
After months of silence regarding the album, yesterday (August 23) at 4:53 PM Lil Uzi tweeted the name of the prospective album, 16*29, with a kiss emoji. Ten minutes later, Uzi was at it again with another tweet that read, “Bro just ask Carti.” Carti has yet to reply to the tweet, but this undeniable tease is reigniting some hope that an album which many thought was scrapped could be back on track.
