It is growing increasingly apparent that Travis Scott will have to deal with a number of cancellations while the Astroworld debacle is sorted out by FBI investigators and civil courtrooms. Almost immediately after the Astroworld tragedy, where 10 died and hundreds were injured, Scott foreshadowed his own foreseeable fate by pulling out of the Day in Vegas festival. He was replaced by Post Malone.
The following week “Travis Scott Night” was scrapped by the Houston Rockets and Epic Games removed the Travis Scott emote from the video game Fortnite.
Today as RapTV and others reported that 9-year-old Ezra Blount became the 10th victim to die as a result of Astroworld, TMZ reports that Nike has postponed its collaboration with Scott indefinitely. Sneaker Heads will have to wait and see if the Air Max 1 x Cactus Jack, which was scheduled to drop in mid-December, will ever materialize.
In a statement today, Nike said, “Out of respect for everyone impacted by the tragic events at the Astroworld Festival, we are postponing the launch of the Air Max x Cactus Jack.”
It is yet to be seen how long and to what extent Travis Scott will continue to deal with the social and economical fallout of this tragedy.
