According to TMZ, a judge ruled against Tory Lanez today (April 5), increasing his bail to $350k, handcuffing him and taking him into custody. The court handed down the ruling based on Lanez’s violation of Meg Thee Stallion’s protective order against him. The judge identified a tweet from Lanez on February 22 as the grounds for the decision.
In that tweet Lanez said, “Good D**k had me f***ing 2 best friends…and I got caught [shrugging emoji]…that’s what I apologized 4…it’s sick how u Spun it tho…” The judge found that the “U” was addressing Meg, while the order specifically called for Lanez to not contact or mention her at all, according to TMZ.
This case stems from a July 2020 incident in which Megan Thee Stallion was shot in the foot. Lanez was charged with felony assault as a result of firing a gun in her direction and causing her great bodily harm. Tory Lanez pled not guilty.
There was also a back-and-forth in court today between the prosecution and defense over a tweet posted by influencer DJ Akademiks in February, according to TMZ. Akademiks said that Lanez’s DNA evidence was not found on the gun, disinformation that the prosecution thinks was planted by Lanez. However, the defense maintains that Lanez’s DNA was in fact not on the magazine because it was “inconclusive.”
TMZ reported that Lanez is in the process of posting the 350k bail. Prosecutors asked for at least $5 million in bail but were denied.
