The Kanye West train left the station long ago but the Chicago son is circling in the hopes of garnering mass support for a late staged Presidential campaign.
Since announcing his intention to run for president via Twitter on July 4, Kanye took to the press circuit to further clarify his intentions. For context, the deadline has passed in several states in order to be on the ballot for the 2020 Presidential Election. The rapper, in a recent interview said, “ I’m speaking with experts, I’m going to speak with Jared Kushner, the White House, with Biden,” despite having done none of the work required to set up a campaign with any chance of earning a substantial number of votes.
The rapper also disclosed who his campaign partner and Vice Presidential pick would be – Michelle Tidball, a Wyoming pastor, and preacher. Tidball is the 57-year-old head of an online ministry and is based in Cody, Wyoming, where Kanye’s getaway Mansion is located. Her website claims she has “various degrees in mental health and criminal justice.” She also claims to have “worked as a mental health therapist for ten years and then shifted into life coaching.”
Kanye also voiced his loss of confidence in the Commander in Chief. Kanye said, “I don’t like that I caught wind that he hid in the bunker.” Despite this, he continues to be quite complimentary of Trump while speaking dismissively of the alternative, a potential President Biden. “I’m not saying Trump’s in my way, he may be a part of my way. And Joe Biden? Like, come on man, please. You know? Obama’s special. Trump’s special. We say Kanye West is special. America needs special people that lead. Bill Clinton? Special. Joe Biden’s not special.” He would further clarify his stance on the party platform, saying, “I would run as a Republican if Trump wasn’t there. I will run as an independent if Trump is there.” The statements fuel the idea that Kanye West is running as a favor to Trump in the hopes that his candidacy may steal votes away from potential Biden voters. The two have a special bond forged in “dragon energy” and the Kanye campaign is widely believed to be a favor to Donald.
Kanye’s campaign is still in its infant stages as are his views on policy. He has said that instead of running as a Democrat or Republican, he is running as a part of the “Birthday Party”. He also called potential COVID 19 vaccines “the mark of the beast.” And he said other things regarding God and Planned Parenthood that reflect a far-right view of the world. Who is to tell if Kanye West will garner more votes than Harambe, the Gorilla did in 2016.
