Rihanna. The name is a household one. You’ve seriously been living under a rock if you haven’t heard this name before.
Her musical career started on The Ellen Degeneres Show, where she came on stage as a shy and timid teenager who was truly humble for the massive talent that she was!
While Rihanna still is mainstream, she has actually been creating chart topping music for over a decade now. And she is not just a hip hop superstar any longer. She is also a fashion designer and celebrity persona that people basically worship!
Rihanna has been in the news for a range of things, including domestic disputes with ex-boyfriend Chris Brown. But most recently, there are pregnancy rumors circulating and this superstar singer might become a momma soon!
But before we get into that question just yet, let’s take a look at Rihanna’s life thus far to see if it is really plausible that she is pregnant.
The early years
Rihanna was born as Robyn Rihanna Fenty on February 20 1988 in Barbados. As a young teenager, she had it a bit rough. Her dad was not the best role model and abused drugs and alcohol—so Rihanna naturally took to music as her coping mechanism. She also thrived with a disciplined schedule and thrived at the Military Academy. As a young girl, she started her own girl’s band with her friends at school. Then, she got her big break. Record producer Evan Rogers asked her group to perform a song at his hotel. Pretty much the rest was history. Rihanna and her mom soon after jumped on a plane to America and settled into Connecticut to pursue a music career full time.
Making it big in America
It was not until she and her family moved to the United States that her music career even began, which was in 2005, making her not even 16 years old. But the success didn’t happen overnight. Rihanna dedicated herself to refining her skills and recording sample tracks for Rogers to pitch to labels. After much persistence, Rihanna snagged a deal with the most coveted record label, Def Jam—which is owned by Jay Z! This huge deal instantly made everyone envious of her instant success and many people were quick to jump on the rumor that she slept her way to the label. But not letting the naysayers get her down. Rihanna debuted her first live performance on the Ellen DeGeneres Show, making her first single Pon de Replay an overnight sensation! By the time she got to releasing her album Good Girls Gone Bad, she easily surpassed 250 million sales around the world. But it is important to remember that it was not only her talented voice that catapulted her to the top. She was beautiful, mysterious, and really likable! From there, her career went bananas—doing performances with Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco, and more!
Continuing success
Rihanna didn’t slow down when she made it big. She continually worked hard in the studio, producing a range of Grammy nominated hits. But it was not until 2013 that she actually won her first Grammy, which she won for her music video “We Found Love”. She has done a number of collaborations with artists like Shakira and Kendrick Lamar. But it was not just music that Rihanna pursues. She is also a passionate fashion designer who has created a range of lingerie pieces to fit females of all shapes and sizes. She regularly launches her new lines of the lingerie fashion company called Fenty at New York Fashion Week, which almost always become instant viral sensations.
Her public relationships
With fame comes no privacy from the paparazzi and snoopy fans. So needless to say, Rihanna has had her fair share of press coverage over her relationships. The most dramatic one was with Chris Brown, who she was in an on and off again toxic relationship for many years. The pinnacle of their relationship was a domestic abuse incident that resulted in Rihanna withdrawing her spot to perform at the Grammys! She was most recently dating a billionaire Saudi businessman named Hassan. The two reportedly knew each other for years and kept their relationship on the down low. So much so that it was not really until two years into the relationship that fans knew the two were dating! Hassan is an heir of Toyota, with his family owning the largest distributor for the car manufacturer in the middle east. Meaning that Hassan was worth more than Rihanna’s $600 million net worth estimate from Business Insider. But apparently the two broke up at the beginning of 2020, with the current status of Rihanna’s relationship still relatively unknown.
This isn’t the first pregnancy rumor
It’s important to remember that we’ve seen this story circulate before! Glamour reminded us that in 2019 there was another Rihanna pregnancy rumor that she epically debunked. When she was giving an interview, she made a statement that quite literally broke the internet, stating “I’m a black woman. I come from a black woman….and I’m going to give birth to a black woman.” It didn’t take long before everyone was convinced she was actually expecting a baby Riri! But while the rumors circulated, she calmly maintained her status that she wants a baby but is not at that stage in her life yet. So it is important to consider that this could really be rumor #2 on the baby train for Rihanna.
She’s leaving London
According to CNN, Rihanna’s $41 million dollar home in London is for sale, hinting that she is changing her home base for a while. There was a period in her life where she needed to escape the mad life she led in America and found a secluded estate to retreat to in London. It wasn’t until her own fans’ sleuthing abilities discovered a supermarket bag in an Instagram story was from a London supermarket that the secret was revealed. The permanent release of this estate for her to escape could indicate she is preparing for a life change—that being either coming back with another studio album or preparing for motherhood!
So is Rihanna pregnant? We can’t determine with certainty one way or another. But what we can say for certain is that just like many others have claimed, Rihanna is one of the biggest stars, fashion icons, and singers this century. She keeps her private life private for a reason and takes necessary breaks out of the spotlight when she needs them. If she really is pregnant, we can guarantee that the public will pretty much be the last to know. As just like her dating life, she seems to hold her personal life close to her heart until she is ready to announce things on her own terms. So we may find out in an exclusive interview with another powerful magazine, or we may find out thanks to the sleuthing of obsessive Instagram fans.
But until the day that Rihanna does have a baby to continue her legacy, we have her music, her fashion line, her wisdom, and her spirit with us every single day! Thank goodness Rogers discovered her as a teenager, as he gave the music world one of the biggest gifts of all time!
