Eliantte & Company, a custom jeweler for the rich and famous, claims in legal documents filed in a New York court that Playboi Carti owes them a lot of money for unpaid jewelry, according to TMZ. Eliantte is suing Carti for $97,063 which is the outstanding balance for two items that the rapper ordered in September of 2020.
The original total balance for the 14-carat white gold diamond rosary chain and custom diamond tennis chain was $197,063.75. Eliantte claims that Carti made a $100,000 payment on January 25 (2021) but has neglected to pay the remainder.
TMZ reported that the exquisite jeweler/plaintiff claims that they have made multiple attempts to collect the debt to no avail. Carti also did not respond to TMZ when asked for a statement.
Adding some confusion to the matter are two text messages that appear to be from Eliantte and Co. stating that the lawsuit is over a “misunderstanding.” The text states that the company, “never had a payment problem from [Carti],” according to RapTV. The correspondence continues, stating that Eliantte is in the process of creating a new chain for the rapper.
It is unclear if the jeweler will drop the reported court action against the rapper.
