Haters in the press lined up for a chance to publicly bash Kim Kardashian before the social media influencer had even stepped on the Saturday Night Live stage for her opening monologue on October 9.
“Has SNL ever had a less-qualified, less-talented host than Kim Kardashian?” asked journalist David Lazarus on Twitter. “I won’t be watching SNL tonight. Kim Kardashian doesn’t deserve a second of my time,” sneered retired news executive Michael Coates.
Regardless, Kim held her head high, delivering a self-deprecating monologue to a receptive and laughing, live audience. The socialite was sure to include most of the Kardashian clan in one respect or another, leaving anyone close to her open to the harmless jabs that come with roast-like gig – Kanye included.
West who was in New York to serve as moral support for his wife, popped-up around town several times the week of Kim’s performance – once with former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen and once while making his way through common JFK airport security. It is unclear if Ye was watching his wife live when she delivered the short, pointed roast.
“I married the best rapper of all time, she said. “Not only that, he’s the richest Black man in America. A talented, legit genius who gave me four incredible kids. So when I divorced him, you had to know it came down to just one thing – his personality.” [laughter and applause from SNL audience]
Kanye has not responded publicly but I think most people would trade a personality slight for the genius crown.
