Jamell Maurice Demons, also known as YNW Melly might be looking at the death penalty if found guilty of two counts of first-degree murder. Melly resides in Florida which is one of the 30 states that capital punishment is legal and authorities feel they can prove beyond a reasonable doubt, that the 19- year old rapper is a gang member, who shot his two friends for “financial gain” back in October and then made it look like a drive-by shooting .
According to new legal docs, obtained by TMZ, the state says “the murder was especially heinous, atrocious or cruel, and he committed homicide in a cold, calculated and premeditated manner.” Cops also believe that Melly shot his two friends YNW Juvy (Chris Thomas, 20) and YNW Sakchaser (Anthony Williams, 21) in the backseat of a car and then drove around with the bodies and then got friend, YNW Bortlen (born Cortlen Henry) to drive the bodies to the hospital and tell the police they were all victims of a drive-by shooting. Even though the vehicle in question had bullets on the side, the police believe the Melly and Bortlen put them there.
Both men are still behind bars without bond and maintain their innocence.
